Everything you need to know before you book your stay.

Is ValleyView Wanaka pet-friendly? Yes! We warmly welcome well-trained dogs by prior arrangement only. Puppies are not encouraged, as the focus is on accommodating mature, well-behaved dogs that can adapt to the home's environment. (If you wish to bring a puppy, please arrange this with us before you book) . Dogs are allowed indoors, but must stay off furniture and not be left unattended in the house. Owners are responsible for all cleanup (a long handled pooper scooper can be found in the garage.). We have a fully fenced private garden for your pet's safety. No extra pet fee applies—just let us know in advance so we can manage expectations and everyone can have a stress free stay.

Are there any ski fields close by? Yes — Valley View Wanaka is perfectly located as a base for winter skiing in the Southern Lakes. The two nearest ski fields are: Cardrona Alpine Resort — about a 30–40 minute drive (one of New Zealand's largest & most popular family-friendly ski areas with terrain for all levels, terrain parks, and great beginner areas). Treble Cone Ski Area — around 45–50 minutes drive (known for advanced terrain, stunning views, and reliable snow — a favorite for experienced skiers). Both resorts are well-equipped with lifts, rentals, lessons, cafés, and après-ski options. We have a Koralp boot & glove dryer onsite that can handle up to 6 pairs at once, so your gear stays dry and ready for the next day.

For current snow reports, lift passes, trail maps, and more details, check the official site: Cardrona & Treble Cone.

Do you offer direct bookings, and what are the benefits? Yes—all bookings are direct through our site, saving you platform fees (often 10–20% on Airbnb/Vrbo). You'll get personalized communication, flexible terms, and the full experience without third-party rules. Our direct & instant booking system means our calendar is always up to date, (you do not need to waste time on dates that are unavailable).

Do you allow smoking or vaping? No smoking or vaping is permitted inside the house or on the decks (NZ law and our policy). Outdoor areas are fine if you dispose of waste properly.

Autumn (Mar–May): Stunning golden colors, fewer crowds, and ideal for biking/hiking. Winter (Jun–Oct): Excellent base for skiing at Cardrona or Treble Cone (short drive), with underfloor heating, heat pumps, and boot/glove drier for comfort. We recommend booking well in advance for peak seasons!
